Bespoke Advisory

My advisory work is focussed on culture and organisational effectiveness. The scope will be driven by the needs of the client. This type of work is often particularly useful at a time of major change such as a shift in the external market, new leadership or fund-raising.

Typically we start by clarifying what 1-3 things really matter for commercial success and translate those into desired behaviours, measurable KPI’s and day-to-day leadership tools. We look at what the organisation is strong at and what its people tell us is lacking, and (like in coaching) we focus on building on core strengths and closing the gaps. As needed we also review and adapt the organisational structure.

Case Study - mid-market PE fund:

Post fundraise, the partnership was looking to cement its culture and build a “2.0” people approach. The desired outcomes included:

  • Laying the practical foundation to scale the organisation (leadership behaviours, people development tools, promotion framework and compensation methodology)

  • Tracking and over time increasing the NPS amongst the junior team

  • Making the changes needed to improve the funds’ attractiveness to a more diverse group of investment professionals

I interviewed the team as well as key LPs, competitors and other third parties, presented a set of actionable recommendations and then worked alongside the managing partners on the implementation. In parallell, we set-up a coaching offering to integrate new hires, support individuals around promotions and broaden the skill-set of the rising stars on the investment team.
